This curriculum resource includes 4 e-booklets, each focused on a different skilled trade (Drywall, Roofer, Painter). A resource will also be developed on Security Guard. Each e-booklet is informed by research and available resources, including those found on Skilled Trades Ontario, Skills Ontario, Support Ontario Youth, Job Talks, ApprenticeSearch.com, Level Up Ontario, as well as educational resources developed for the Literacy and Basic Skills field.
Each booklet features the following:
an introduction to the skilled trade, with comprehension activities
an overview of labour market conditions for the trade, and demand in Ontario, with comprehension activities
pathways or entry points to the particular skilled trade (depending on age and literacy skills)
a step-by-step outline of the process to acquiring the skilled trade, with guidance and links to resources and supports for each step of the process
an introduction to essential literacy skills needed to enter the skilled trade, related to each of the six competencies of the OALCF, with related comprehension activities

This toolkit is full of resources including infographics, videos, curriculum booklets, recordings of webinars and a navigation guide of existing apprenticeship focused resources. These resources are specifically tailored to the needs of frontline LBS program facilitators and were developed in consultation with LBS program facilitators, managers and Literacy Networks across the province. They are quick to access, easy to use and FREE!
