Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) Upgrading at Davenport-Perth Neighbourhood and Community Health Centre (DPNCHC) provides personalized support to adults who want to upgrade their reading, writing, math, and basic computer skills. Whether you want to get your high school diploma, change careers, or be more independent, LBS can help you reach your goals. We also offer various types of short-term programming throughout the year, such as specialized computer skills or public speaking. There are opportunities for learners to participate in community workshops on health, politics, and the creative arts as well. SERVING: Anglophone
REGISTRATION PROCESS: Contact us to register. You will be asked to complete registration forms and skills assessment. We will create a learning plan (identifying learning goals) for you.
INTAKE: Since our program is individualized and learner-centered, participants can start and finish their programming at any time. The only exception would be if the participant is registered for a workshop series that has a specific start and end date.
ELIGIBILITY: 19+; Residents of Ontario; Able to speak and listen in English (all programming is done in English)
ACCESS: During COVID, all our programming is remote (either over-the-phone, via mail, or virtual).
